About the Project

Urge Congress to Stay Strong!

On May 1, 2007, President Bush once again demonstrated his complete disregard for the voice of the American people with his veto of the budget proposal that would bring US troops home from Iraq, even though the bill passed in both the House and Senate. Unfortunately, Congressional leadership gave into his pressure and responded to his veto by sending him his full funding request without a strong timeline for withdrawal. Despite this setback, we expect Congress to continue voting on measures to end the war, and we must let our elected leaders know that we expect them to support a concrete timeline as part of a plan to end this disastrous war.

“My name is Katie Redman, I'm calling from Petaluma, California & I would really like there to be a concrete time line for bringing the troops home from Iraq. I really don't think we serve any purpose being there I don't think we are helping & I just think we should leave. I don't want it to become another South Korea or another Vietnam or anything like that. Thank you very much.”

“Hi, my name is Monroe Jeffrey & I'm from Los Angeles, California. Anyway, I would like to urge congress to support a concrete bill. Determination our United States continued participation in the Iraq nuclear holocaust. We need to get out of there, we need to stop participating & causing nuclear war & murder in that part of the world. We've done enough damage, more than enough & we're killing our own people by doing so. Please let's get out of there now, if not sooner. Thank you so very much.”

“Hello, my name is Eileen Babasolukian and I'm calling from Pasedena, California and I'm calling because I want to urge congress to stay strong and continue to take action to end the war in Iraq. Please bring our soldiers home and have a strong backbone against Bush because he is fighting an illigal war and we, the people ask you, congress to represent us. We feel misrepresented when our troops are still in Iraq and this war is still continuing.

Please stand against Bush, bring our troops home, end the war. Thank you.”

“Hi, my name is Jacquelyn Highmill and I want to urge congress to stay strong and continue to take action to end the war in Iraq. If Bush vetoes the supplemental, Congress needs to come back with a stronger bill containing a timeline and no loopholes so we can bring our troops home. It's time that these troops come home. Thank you.”

“My name is Margaret Daniel, I am calling from Louisiana. I want congress to stay strong and continue to take action to end the war in Iraq. The President is ignoring the will of the American people and we expect Congress to hold him accountable to the changing course in Iraq.

The reason our soldiers are still in harm's way is because the president keeps threatening to withhold the funding. He is responsible for the troops being in harm's way, no one else. Thank you.”

“Hi my name is Carrie Walsh and I'm calling from Fairfax. And I wanted to leave a message urging congress to stay strong and continue to take aggressive action to end the war in Iraq. If Bush vetoes the supplemental, we are hoping that you'll come back with a really strong bill with a timeline and no loopholes so we can bring our troops home and get done what most of the american people want done, regardless of the fact that our president is totally ignoring people's wishes. Thank you.”
